The bodies of two men have been found near the wreckage of a home-made ultra light aircraft east of Emerald, in Central Queensland, Australia.

The aircraft was reported missing late yesterday afternoon after the men had taken the aircraft for a pre-sale test flight and concerns were raised when they failed to return to Emerald.

Search and rescue crews covered an area of more than 800 square kilometres on Wednesday before the wreckage was found on Thursday afternoon.

Queensland police and air safety officials are currently investigating the incident.
