Helicopter lands safely at Aberdeen Airport after alert

  • 1/4/2011

A helicopter has landed safely at Aberdeen Airport after a full emergency was declared due to a warning light.

The alarm was raised shortly after 1400 GMT, and police, fire and ambulance crews were all called out.

The CHC Super Puma L2, with 12 passengers and two crew, was inbound from the Forties field in the North Sea.

The helicopter landed at about 1430 GMT. An investigation will be carried out.

It is understood the warning light may have indicted gearbox temperature problems.

A CHC spokesman told BBC Scotland the crew raised the alarm as a precaution, and full checks would be carried out on the helicopter.
