Built in 1820, Winchester House in Southwark Bridge Road was both home and workplace to London's chief fire officers between 1878 and 1937. This imposing building now houses one of the most comprehensive collections of firefighting equipment and memorabilia in the country.

Exhibits range from early leather helmets to recently replaced breathing apparatus illustrating the history of firefighting in London from the Great Fire of 1666 to modern times. Part of the collection is housed in the appliance room of the original Southwark Fire Station.

The INTERNATIONAL AVIATION FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION (IAFPA) was formed in 2000 by a group of airport / municipal fire service professionals and industry specialists as a professional and fraternal association of international airport, municipal, and military fire and emergency services professionals to promote the information exchange, study, and improvement of aircraft rescue fire fighting and airport facility fire protection.

The IAFPA believes that through closer personal interaction of worldwide airport, municipal and industry specialists we can foster and enhance all aspects of training and operational procedures dealing with aircraft rescue and airport fire protection. Through the IAFPA we will offer our support and technical expertise to each other and international aviation regulatory agencies.

The Conferences and Seminar's that are held throughout the World are intended to bring the Aviation Fire professionals together in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The picture to the left is a conference held in Poland 2008 and the picture o the right is a group of delegates that are relaxing during a gala evening that involved Food, Drink and Entertainment but more importantly a lot of Networking.
